On behalf of all of us in our school district, we send heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of John Jacoby who was killed yesterday in a shooting on County Road 15 and 72.  John was a Windsor resident his entire life and he brought goodwill and joy to all he met.

The school district continues to emphasize safety and security in all that we do.  Additionally, law enforcement will inform us when we need to have additional security procedures activated.

Thank you for your support and involvement regarding out children's safety.

Education Foundation Thank a Teacher Program

As part of Teacher Appreciation Week in May, the Education Foundation is excited to announce its second annual "Thank a Teacher" program.  We invite you to take this opportunity to honor your child's teacher(s) in a unique way by making a tax-deductible donation to the Weld RE-4 Educational Foundation, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization founded last year for the purpose of filling the ever increasing needs within our schools.  Funds raised by this program will be used to provide small teacher grants and support other classroom needs, in furtherance of our mission (please see attachment).  Last year the foundation raised close to $2,000.00 for our schools through this program!

To participate in the Thank-A-Teacher program and for further details, please see FOUNDATION

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

P.S. Please save the date for our Flip Flop Gala at the Island in Water Valley on August 29th!

2015-2016 Immunization Requirement

 Tdap

For the 2015-2016 school year, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment requires that all incoming 6th grade students receive a Tdap immunization (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) before they attend their first day of school in the fall.

Please plan to have your child’s immunizations updated as soon as possible if needed and send a copy of this to school before the first day of school in August.  Your child will not be allowed to enter school until the immunization is complete or an exemption is signed. Exemptions (medical, personal, religious) are available to be signed in the health room.

Varicella

For the 2015-2016 school year, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment requires that all Kindergarten through 12th grade students receive two doses of Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine before they will be permitted to attend their first day of school in the fall.  This will affect current 8th – 12th grade students for next year.

If your child has had both doses of the varicella vaccine, he/she is compliant.

If not, please plan to have your child’s immunizations updated as soon as possible and bring in or send a copy to school before the first day of school in August.  This copy must be from your doctor’s office or Health Department.

Thank you for your attention to this requirement.  If you have any questions please call Health Room Staff at 674-5212.
